Prince Rupert RCMP investigating ‘sudden’ death at 7th Ave stairs on March 22

A 46-year-old woman died after life saving efforts from authorities

A 46-year-old woman was found dead on the Seventh Avenue East staircase in Prince Rupert on March 22.

The Prince Rupert RCMP said frontline officers along with the Prince Rupert Fire and Rescue tried to save the woman’s life when she was found at approximately 8 a.m. on the staircase.

The cause of the woman’s death is currently undisclosed, although a March 23 statement released by the RCMP said there is no danger to the public.

The stairway, which connects Seventh Avenue East with Eighth Avenue East, has been closed for many years.

The RCMP are asking for anyone with information or CCTV footage relating to the death to call the Prince Rupert office at 250-624-2136.
