North Coast MLA Gary Coons (second from right) joined students from Conrad Elementary in donning pink on February 23 to send a message that bullying needs to stop. Pink was a common colour around the community on Wednesday, which was designated as Stop Bullying Day.

Students at Northwest Community College held a student debt soup kitchen on Wednesday last week as part of a protest against government inaction on reducing the student debt load, increasing tuition fees and, to a lesser extent, the recent cuts to student aid programs in the new 2011 provincial budget that was announced the day before.

Last week the Prince Rupert Rotary Club celebrated 90 consecutive years of helping the community, making it the longest running service club in Prince Rupert.
