Prince Rupert’s elementary school students got into the Christmas spirit on Nov. 30 as they participated in the city’s annual Christmas tree decorating contest.
The contest took place at the Rupert Square Mall, and each school was given a tree to decorate outside one of the stores.
Kathy Dann, a teacher at Annunciation School, said the students took time to plan what their theme would be, and then made decorations to fit in with that theme.
“Our theme this year is snow,” Dann said, as her students sprinkled fake frosting on their tree. “So all of our decorations are homemade sleds and skis.”
At the end of the afternoon, the trees were judged based on the originality and quality of their decorations.
First place went to Annunciation School’s Grade 6 class, second place went to Pineridge Elementary School’s Strong Start class and third place went to Annunciation School’s Grade 1 and 4 classes.
