PRINCE RUPERT -Several Prince Rupert racers were trying out new rides or new engine combinations at the Terrace airport last weekend.
Gord Hidber was running a new engine, a Big Block 582 cubic inch motor with 950 horsepower. Hidber won first place in Super Pro and backed that up with a first place win on Sunday. Gord ran solid 5.40 seconds both days.
Shelby Peterson also had a great weekend in his new Jr. Dragster. Peterson took home a third place win on Saturday, June 17, followed by a first place on Sunday, June 18.
Kham Shantz tested out his new ride — a 37 Chevrolet Pro Mod style car with more than1400 Horsepower.
Shantz was eliminating problems with the car on Saturday, but Sunday the car showed its potential running a weekend fast pass of 5.20, the fastest pass of the weekend. The car didn’t even seem to be working hard at all and appears to be able to run in the four second range.
The next drag race is the venerable Kitimat Hill Climb. This time a two day race, June 24th and 25th.
