The senior boys Rainmakers made history in Vancouver over the weekend by winning the Pitt Meadows Air Show tournament for the first time in its history.

Starting off the tournament with a bang, the boys beat Burnaby Mountain 79-23, leading to a date with Cambie Secondary School. Charles Hay put them away too, 95-48, and Ben Rabel was named player of the game.

That pitted the Rainmakers against Nanaimo District Secondary School (NDSS), a game which proved to be the toughest match of the tournament. The two teams battled, with CHSS trailed in the middle of the fourth quarter but strong defence held off the Islanders and the Rainmakers won the game 58-55. Quinn Leighton was the player of the game.

It was a big win for CHSS, because NDSS was the third-ranked AAA team in the province, so the Rainmakers could see a rise in the rankings after this.

In the final game, Rupert faced off against the North Delta Huskies. The Rainmakers led 39-33 at halftime and rode a strong second half to win the championship game 87-70.

Rabel was named tournament MVP, and Leighton and Liam McChesney were all-stars.

The Rainmakers also defeated Brookswood Secondary School last Wednesday in an exhibition game before the tournament. The score was 59-55.
