The Bantam House Seawolves settled for silver in last weekend’s tournament in Prince Rupert.

The team fell 8-0 to Smithers in the championship game, but the Seawolves put in a competitive showing.

Only Smithers and Hazelton were able to make it, as Terrace had to pull out at the last moment.

“I think they’ve improved. Every game, we’ve worked on a couple things to try to match the opposition and they’ve done well in that respect, playing their positions,” coach Andrew Bellis said.

The coach felt the whole team had a good tournament, but he was especially pleased with goalie Sarah Orkrainetz.

“Sarah’s played really well. She’s very solid. Sometimes we haven’t backed her up and she’s kept us in games. They got a lot of shots from close range and she controlled the rebounds,” Bellis said.

Orkrainetz was named player of the game in the final against Smithers. Other Seawolves named players of the game include Trinity Stegavig, Kyle Le, Ferryn Collins and Nolan Weick.

The teams played each other two times each before the final. Rupert beat Hazelton 5-3, lost to Smithers 8-3 and 11-1 and then tied Hazelton 3-3 before the final game.

Collins had a good showing on the weekend, scoring three goals and two assists. Weick, Ashton Collins, Stegavig and Joel Silva each scored two goals as well.

“It was a pretty good all-around effort. Everybody played to their ability,” Bellis said.
