Prince Rupert teams off to a strong start at Junior All Native Tournament

Under-17 and Under-13 boys both registered early victories

Day one is underway at the 2018 All Native Basketball Tournament, and Prince Rupert’s teams are representing their city well.

Prince Rupert’s two boys squads registered comprehensive victories in their first games, and are looking to build confidence moving on to the later rounds.

The Prince Rupert Tribesmen won their opening game in the U-17 boys division in dominant fashion earlier today, beating the Surrey Complex 100-37.

Tribesman guard Malcolm Brown was named player of the game for the Prince Rupert team. Tribesmen next play the Vancity Sons at 1:45 p.m.

The Prince Rupert Synergy Sharks beat the NCN Young Guns 76-26 to make an equally impressive opening statement. They next play the Vancity Warriors on March 20 at 1:00 p.m.

On the girl’s side of the tournament the Kaien Island Thunder are currently playing the Gingolx Storm in the U-17 girls division. The Lax Kw’Alaams Strikettes play Nanaimo in the U-13 girls division at 10:00 a.m.
