The golf season is in full swing, course preparation work is complete, clubs have been out a few times, now we get serious.
Courses in our area, are hoping for a recovery from a difficult 2011, and are presenting a number of incentives to encourage new players to enter the game, and others to play more often.The Prince Rupert Golf Club offers an attractive Annual Fee to the golfers under 30 years of age. The Punch Card has been fine tuned with a Free round included with the purchase. A Monday and Friday, Golf and Dine promotion, includes nine holes of golf and a meal from Cu, for less than $30.
Junior Golf Clinics will be held on Thursday after school during the month of June, followed by summer clinics on Tuesday mornings.
We were able to host a day of golf, during the Aboriginal Business Conference in April and enjoyed a most successful day with the Charity Tournament, on Saturday. Congratulations to Kathy Horcoff, Dundee Securities. for presenting the event, which benefitted the Regional Hospital.
On Sunday the Canadian Fishing Company, brought a group to enjoy their annual Golf Scramble.
On the competitive schedule, the Mr/Mrs Tournament attracted a nice field, and a good start for Brian/Rose Holkestad, who emerged as Champions. The Port City Open required a tie breaker, with the team of Bob Hays/Willie Wekel, emerging as
Champions.
Club Captains, Chris Gordon and James Horne have a full scheule of weekly events planned for Ladies and Mens Day
competitions.
