Prince Rupert atoms come up big in tournament

Chase Leighton-Stevens scored twice to lead the Prince Rupert FAR-KO Atoms to a 4-1 win over visiting Terrace AtoMc Green in the final of the Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Association Atom Tournament at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on Sunday.

Leighton-Stevens’ two goals both came on feeds from Marcus Carney. Kade Jones and Noah Aceto each added unassisted goals for the win.

Cole Demedeiros scored Terrace’s lone goal on a set-up from Keaton Hartress.

In the Third Place game, Kitimat Overwaitea’s Chase Pacheco picked up the hat trick, including the game-winner to lead his squad to a 5-4 win over the Houston Flyers.

Ehan Molloy and Estaban Allard also scored for Kitimat with Reid Stumpf, Tyler Emberley, Charles Sullivan and Tyler Bassani each picking up singles for Houston.

In the Fifth Place matchup, Prince Rupert’s Storey’s Excavating and Terrace AtoMc Purple played to a 3-3 draw.

Smithers ProTech defeated Prince Rupert Re/Max Coast Mountain 8-5 for seventh place.
