For the second year in a row, Team ‘Out for a Rip’ claimed first-place at the Skeena River Relay this past Saturday.
Having their tenth and final member cross the finish line at 11:01:03 in their mixed male and female team, Out for a Rip took home gold out of the 30 teams that participated in the relay race from Prince Rupert to Terrace.
Ted McCreery captained the squad and the team is from Thornhill.
Their 2016 time couldn’t quite live up to the incredible 10:31:50 posted last year, but was still good enough to take first.
In the corporate category, The Boogie Two Shoes won with a time of 13:03:31, beating second-place McElhanney McJoggers and third-place Un-HATCHED-ed.
In the masters category, the Rupert Relics defeated the Folks Folks with a time of 15:11:43.
In the mixed division, Out for a Rip took first, while the River Side Runners took second with a time of 12:13:38 and The Gooey Ducks claimed third with a time of 12:58:38.
The Kitimat Bastards won open category, crossing the line at 11:29:06, while second place went to Giv’Er on the River and Gitga’at claimed third.
In the women’s category, Transcend Fitness grabbed first-place with a time of 13:18:11. Kiss my Assfault came in second and Scrambled Legs took third.
Among the 30 teams taking part, 12 were Prince Rupert-based, five were from Terrace, three were from Kitimat, two were from Smithers and one each came from Telkwa, Queen Charlotte, Houston, Thornhill, Port Clements, Thornhill, New Hazelton and New Aiyansh.
The fastest Prince Rupert team was The Gooey Ducks.
The Rupert Runners’ next event is the Cannery Road Race, set for Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at the North Pacific Cannery in Port Edward.
