Prince Rupert archer Dylon Cruz placed 8th at this year’s B.C. Winter Games in Kamloops, shooting an aggregate score of 999.
“It was a good, solid performance,” said Jim Martin, Cruz’s coach. “It was his first major competition so he did very well and was right where he should be.”
Martin said in addition to competing, Cruz’s outgoing personality was welcome at the games.
“That’s the most important part of the games is meeting people and making friends,” he said. “Having someone like him around who is a bit more extroverted was great for all the kids.”
Cruz has been a competing in archery since 2016 when his father introduced him to the sport. He is a member of Prince Rupert’s Archery Club where Martin, and the club’s other instructors, have worked to improve his accuracy.
