I want to back-up Danny Leighton's letter to the editor with regards to him asking his people of the community of Metlakatla to stand up with him against the Port Authority and city council.
Putting up fences on the waterfront, especially in areas where we picked salmonberries and now we cant and where we had access to and now have to look elsewhere, is not good. To top it off, if we want to cross the tracks we get a heavy fine, which is what we never encountered in all those years.
The Port Authority has gone a little too far. Yes, it is time to make a stand and I hope everybody, including the people of Lax Kw'alaams, come out and support Danny Leighton in his endeavours to stop the Port Authority.
Pretty soon we won't be able to walk around our waterfront.
Even though I come from a different community, the community of Gitxaala, I am willing to come out and join you. Come on Gitxaala, let's join Danny Leighton.
