In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Gilker. Bill passed away unexpectedly at his home in Oona River on April 21, 2025. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years Debbie, their four children, Clifford (Margaret), Zoe (Stefan), Jody, and Aaron, his mom, Ella, and brother, Rick. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family as well as many close friends both in Rupert and the community of Oona River.
Bill was a lifelong fisherman in Prince Rupert operating the Troller One. In the last year, he moved out to Oona River full time with Debbie to finish building their house. He enjoyed spending the days watching the tides and the harbour comings and goings. Bill never shied away from a cup of coffee or a glass of scotch shared with friends. He could always be counted on to share his unique sense of humour and quick wit. Bill measured everything with his heart, through his kindness and generosity whether you were the oldest of friends or a complete stranger.
His family, friends and community will miss him so dearly. In his honour, we tip our glasses to him as we send him off on this next journey.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
