It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Huskins on October 30, 2023
Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Theresa Clark, her sister Debbie and brother Gregory. She is survived by her husband Calvin, daughter Stacey, sister Carole, aunts Gina, Kay-Marie and Sheila, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Darlene was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She moved to Prince Rupert, BC in her twenties which became her permanent home.
Darlene was a teacher with School District #52 for several decades. She was a passionate and dedicated teacher who was well liked by her students.
Over the years, Darlene volunteered with many community agencies including the Prince Rupert Library, the SPCA and the Acropolis Manor.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses and care aides at the palliative care unit at the Acropolis Manor. Although mom was only there a short period of time, she received wonderful care. Her family, who was going through a difficult time, was always treated with kindness and compassion.
Darlene had a love for animals and will be missed by her four cats and two "grand cats." In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Pawz United Rescue Society (PURS) or the SPCA.
A celebration of life will be held for Darlene at a later date.
