Tero Paavola

January 31, 1937 - November 10, 2016

The Paavola family is saddened to announce the passing of Tero - a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend - on November 10, 2016.

Tero was born in Premier, B.C. and moved to Prince Rupert with his family at the age of five. Tero was a commercial fisherman for more than 60 years, gilnetting in the Skeena River with his boat, the well-known Flying Finn, until his retirement.

Tero met the love of his life, Sharon, in July of 1970 when he took her and her travelling companions on a cruise aboard the Flying Finn, and the two were married a year and a day later.

Together Sharon and Tero raised three daughters - Cheryl, Janette and Christine - and welcomed granddaughter Sophia to the family in 1996.

There will be a memorial service for Tero on Monday, November 21 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that friends of Tero make a donation to the charity of their choice.
