January 1, 1952 - May 19, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

On May 19, 2024, Terry suddenly passed away at the place he loved, Francois Lake, with his beloved wife, Janet at his side. His passing is completely unexpected and there is profound grief in the loss of the family's rock - a loving husband, a wonderful dad, and a doting poppa.

Terry was born on January 1, 1952 in Vancouver, but was raised in Prince Rupert, where he spent most of his life.

He is survived by his wife Janet, his son Greg with wife Keri and children Thomas and Lily, and his son Jeremy with wife Angeline and son Connlan.

Terry spent most of his career as a marine engineer on Prince Rupert's Digby Island Ferry, a position he held with pride until his retirement. Until his passing, one could still catch Terry on the ferry covering a shift or providing consults to share his vast experience, most recently for the ferry's refit earlier this month.

Terry was always the first person to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, and he never expected nor wanted anything in return - he would just be grateful to help.

Family was everything to Terry. He loved Janet unconditionally, which he showed through small gestures such as holding her hand during their daily walks. Terry was immensely proud of Greg and Jeremy, and he took every opportunity to share with people - often strangers - their achievements.

He was a hands-on and playful poppa and would often be found playing sports with Thomas, cars or trains with Connlan, or unicorns and ponies with Lily.

Terry enjoyed adventures on the high seas, especially fishing - there was no one better to have on a boat as a first mate than Terry. Terry also enjoyed travelling adventures with Janet, in particular their most recent 3-week tour of New Zealand earlier this year. No matter where their adventures took him though, home in Prince Rupert was always where Terry's heart was. Terry had a knack for always finding the sun amidst all that rain, and this reflected his spirit and approach to life.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to BC Children's Hospital.
