With profound sadness, our family announces the sudden passing of Shawna, on Sunday, January 22nd, at the age of 40.
Shawna is survived by her fiancé Mathieu Carignan, her daughter Tiona Holkestad, her step-daughter Mylee Carignan, her father Brian and step-mother Rose Holkestad, her mother Deborah Hryciuk and partner Brian Buchanan, her mother in law Denise Beaudry and husband Dale Prest, her (Baba) Laura Hryciuk, her brother Derrick (Sharon) and their sons Evan and Axton, her sister Dawn (Kevin) and their sons Logan, Jesse, and Cooper. She's also survived by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her deeply.
Shawna's very active involvement in her community over the years has created multiple friendships and colleagues who will miss her dearly.
Her vivacious and optimistic personality was like a ray of sunshine. She touched the lives of everyone who met her with her kindness and shining spirit; a light that was extinguished much too soon.
A celebration of Shawna's life will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Shawna's name to the Prince Rupert Curling Club or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
