In Loving Memory ~

Our family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Shane while on vacation in Manzanillo Mexico. Shane was a kind generous soul with the greatest sense of humor, and a true Rupert booster who loved to travel. Born and raised in Prince Rupert, he attended Annunciation School to grade 7 and then graduated in 1972 from Prince Rupert Senior Secondary School.

He developed a lifelong love of the Ocean while fishing with his Dad on the Northern Breeze and continued to run the boat after his Dad passed away till it sold. His career continued on the high seas with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, then Minette Bay Ship Docking and finally with Saam Towage as Captain on the tugboats.

Shane's nautical knowledge awarded him the privilege of successfully operating Northern Breeze Surveyors LTD for the past 25 years. He took as much interest in the vessels as those operating them, and made many lifelong connections along the way.

Shane was a member of Rotary and had received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for "Service above Self". Shane served on many boards, the Prince Rupert Airport Society, Acropolis Manor, Prince Rupert Regional Community Foundation, Seal Cove Airport Society, BC Ferries, and the City of Prince Rupert Waterfront Advisory Committee.

He was known as Grizzly to his Beaver troop, played Santa and visited many houses on Dec 24th. He gave freely of his time and with his gift of the gab he was one of the best Auctioneers for the Talent Cancer Auction, his 50th high school reunion, and MC for many social events and family weddings.

Shane married Barb Green on October 25 1975, they raised two sons Brent and Michael in Prince Rupert. The family loved to travel and Shane and Barb ensured the boys saw the world.

After Barb's passing in 2008, Shane carried on and spent much time with his grandkids, taking them camping every summer and making many great memories. It is said that for every cup there is a saucer and lucky for Shane he met Jody Magliocchi, and on December 11 2015, they married in Hawaii.

Shane thought himself very lucky as he not only got a second chance at love and happiness, but with the marriage came two daughters Rydell and Whitney whom he loved as his own. Shane and Jody were living their best lives flying around the world, or travelling in the motorhome. With Jody, Shane got to continue his love of travel and both were always up for adventures of many kinds.

Shane was generous, funny and kind, he was the first to grab the bill, lend a hand, or give sound advice and was always there should you need him. If you were a friend of Shane's you were truly fortunate. We shall miss his wit and sarcasm, and his love of life.

Shane was predeceased by his Father Ralph, Mother Kay, wife Barb.

He is survived by the love of his life Jody, his sons, Brent (Veronica), Michael (Jotika), daughters Rydell (Tim), Whitney (Adam), brothers Allan (Marnie), Bruce (Donia), sister Cathy (David), 7 Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, and in laws Barb Marr and Les Kihn, and the Green Family.

There will be a celebration of life in early September 2024. In lieu of flowers - smile and extend your hand and make someone's day.

Fair winds and following seas Captain, sweet sailing to the other side. We shall love you forever and miss you always.
