July 9, 1934 - August 19, 2022
In loving memory ~
After a 6 year struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Ed passed away peacefully at Acropolis Manor on August 19, 2022 with his wife and staff at his side.
Ed was born on July 9, 1934 on a farm in Whitby Twp., Ontario to William and Mabel Dyer and was the 3rd oldest of six siblings. Ed moved to Prince Rupert in 1952 and worked at the grain terminal for 41 years. In 1993 he took early retirement and became a handi-man and his carpentry and electrical skills were always in demand.
Ed was an avid badminton player, bowler, curler, and in later years learned to swim, and was part of the nifty- fifties walking club. Ed was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #27 and was awarded a Life Membership in 1987, the Masonic Lodge Tyee #66, and a Gizeh Shriner.
Ed was a kind and gentle man and a devoted husband and father and will be forever loved and remembered by Elsie, his wife of 62 years; son, Erin (Yunima); beloved grand daughter, Leah; and numerous relatives in Southern Ontario. Ed loved travelling and spending time with his family. A life well lived.
A special thank you to Jan and the wonderful staff at Acropolis Manor for the tender loving care Ed received throughout his three and a half years as a resident. The family would also like to thank Dr. Kloppers for the many years he was Ed's doctor; and Dr. Chantal Piek.
It was Ed's request to be cremated, no service. Treasured memories.
