In Loving Memory ~

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Douglas Sutherland, aged 72, on June 13, 2024. Ron died in his hometown of Prince Rupert, BC, surrounded by family. His loss was unexpected and has devastated his family and close friends.

Ron was born in Cumberland, BC in 1951 and moved to Prince Rupert in 1968 with his family. Ron, who was affectionately known by those close to him as "Suds", was well known within the community of Prince Rupert and he felt deeply for his hometown. Ron worked for the Repap Pulp Mill for over 30 years, and then went on to work at both School District 52 and Farwest Bus line before fully retiring in 2015.

Ron loved nothing more than being with his family and friends, having a chat about what's happening around town, and from time to time doing so with a beer in hand. Ron loved traveling with his family to more sunny destinations in group trips that were arranged every couple of years or so and will be missed greatly on the trips to come.

Ron was predeceased by his mother Catherine, father Leslie, brother Eddie and sister Lynne.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Debra, daughters Sherry (Ryan) and Lesley (Neil) as well as his beloved grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Brody and Kacey. Ron will be forever missed by his family but his memory will always live on in our hearts.
