With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Roberta Cross.
Roberta was born in Vancouver, BC on January 28, 1944. Roberta grew up in several locations around the lower mainland including Vancouver, Port Moody and Haney (Maple Ridge). After graduating high school, Roberta attended the University of British Columbia, after which she took a job with BC Packers in Vancouver where she met Donald Cross. After a short and long-distance courtship, Roberta and Don were married in Vancouver and with the promise of relocating for "only a couple of years" the couple moved to Prince Rupert where Don was employed with Nelson Brothers Fishing Co. in Port Edward. Don and Roberta remained in Prince Rupert, where they chose to stay and raise their family and lived happily together for 53 years. Roberta worked for many years at Northern Savings Credit Union and was an active volunteer with the Prince Rupert Skating Club and Lester Centre for the Arts.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Donald and her sister Evelyn Amundson, as well as by her children Sandra (Shaun) and Michele (Remo). Roberta was the proud grandmother of Reagan, Kali, Kaitlyn, Owen and Marco, who will miss her very much.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nursing and support staff at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, and to the home care staff from Northern Health, who provided Roberta with wonderful care and support over the past few years.
Roberta did not wish to have a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the North Coast Health Improvement Society.
