January 3, 1955 - May 6, 2025
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of Regina Hausner announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the age of 70. Regina passed away peacefully at Acropolis Manor, Prince Rupert, B.C.
Regina was born in Northeim, Germany and immigrated to Canada with her parents in September 1955. That same year Regina and her parents settled in South Vancouver where she attended both elementary and high school.
On June 30, 1978 Regina and her husband, Ed Hausner, were married at Holy Family Catholic Church. Shortly thereafter they moved to Prince Rupert to begin raising a family.
In September 1986, Regina and her family moved to Papua New Guinea to take on volunteer work through the Catholic Church. The family returned to Prince Rupert in 1989 where Regina worked for the Province's Mental Health office and later the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Regina was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000 but was determined to continue living a normal life. As a result, in 2005 Regina and Ed again volunteered abroad through the Catholic Church, living in South Africa to work with orphans for the year and returning the following year.
Regina continued to work for the Ministry of Children and Family Development until 2010 at which time her multiple sclerosis made it impossible for her to work any longer. She moved into Acropolis Manor as a resident on April 2019 where she continued to live until she passed away from cancer.
Regina is survived by her husband (Ed), 4 children (Marcus, Christa, Andrea and Brigitte), 8 grandchildren (Dillon, Jaden, Hannah, Issac, Beckham, Nahlah, Ballack and Koiia), her sisters Barb and Carol, and many relatives. She was deeply devoted to her family and an active member within her community and church.
In recent years, Regina's greatest desire was to go home; home to be with her family. Her declining health never made this possible. As a family we are torn by Regina's passing, but grateful she has gone to her eternal home.
Our family would like to thank the many, many people who supported Regina in her struggle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. Thank you so very much. A special thanks to the staff at Acropolis Manor, Father Terry Brock and many friends who came to visit and pray with her or just to hold her hand.
Regina was particularly concerned for the plight of those in poorer and war torn regions of the world. She was especially concerned for children in those regions. In lieu of flowers, or if you wish to donate to a cause of Regina's interest, we encourage you to support a reputable organization, such as Catholic Relief Services, Missionaries of Charity or Doctors Without Borders, who specifically support people in such circumstances.
Funeral services will begin at 10:45 a.m on Friday, May 16th at Annunciation Church, 635 5th Avenue West, Prince Rupert, BC. A reception will follow.
