November 16, 1958 - June 27, 2023

In loving memory ~

It is with a saddened heart we announce that Raymond passed away suddenly on June 27, 2023. He was recently diagnosed with in operable, life-threatening cancer, and given a window, of what would be days, for the family to spend by his side ensuring his comfort and peace. We apologize to everyone, family, or friends, who did not know or find out until reading this. Everything happened so fast, we were unable to inform everybody who would've wanted to visit him in the hospital perhaps to say goodbye. We can assure everybody that he passed away peacefully and painlessly in his sleep with family at his side, under the respectful and loving care of the staff at the Acropolis Manor.

Raymond was survived by his mother Beverley Pilfold and younger brother Edward Pilfold (Kristina) and niece Kennedy Pilfold. He was predeceased by his father Edward Pilfold Sr. (1996) and his older brother Sam Pilfold(2008).

Raymond was born in Kitchener, Ontario in 1958 only to arrive in Prince Rupert, British Columbia in 1959 where he lived most of his life. In 1975 Ray was involved in a serious car accident which nearly took his life. With a strong will, determination, stubbornness and the love of family he eventually recovered but was left permanently disabled. He tried for a brief period to live on his own in Victoria after the accident but spent most of the remainder of his life under the loving care of mainly his mother and family until entering assisted living at the Acropolis Manor in late 2019.

Raymond was a happy person considering all he overcame and the life changes he endured. He was loving and strong and never really complained about anything. His smile and laugh will be truly missed beyond words.

We'd like to send a special thanks out to all the staff at assisted-living and long-term care at the Acropolis Manor Prince Rupert. They provided him with loving care, and were very patient with him discovering his unique personality even though he could be stubborn and sometimes difficult. He spoke fondly of the staff there and enjoyed their sense of humour and his time living there.

We will announce a date in the near future for a celebration of life to honour Raymond's life and share stories.

Thank you to the many people who have assisted with Raymond's care over the years. I'm sure we've missed many. It's truly appreciated.
