October 26, 1935 - March 20, 2020
Passed away in his home March 20, 2020 at the age of 84.
This is the story of Paul, Dad, Papa, Grandpa, and Uncle. Born at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver on October 26, 1935. He grew up in Abbotsford with his loving family. Raised Catholic he was an altar boy when he was young. He used to say that he was such an important baby that they named the hospital after him. "Just another of the my sick jokes" he would always say. Known to always joke around with a twinkle in his blue eyes.
Paul had numerous jobs around the country including Alcan Kitimat, Bralorne Mine Lillooett, PGE Railway Chetwynd and INCO Mine Manitoba, as well as joining the Canadian Army. He moved to Prince Rupert, married his wife Ella, and settled down raising his two daughters. Worked at Skeena Cellulose Pulp Mill as a Crane Operator and was a proud member of PPWC Local 4, retiring from there after 35 years.
Papa was a devoted loving father, loyal friend and hard worker; was known for his caring heart, big smile and his amusing jokes. Always sharply dressed, cruising around in one of the many cars he owned over the years. He would often give rides to those in need as that was his nature.
Papa's last few years were marked with dementia. One of the strongest and smartest men we know, he lived independently at home with a routine in place to take care of himself for as long as he could. Family and friends stepped in as caregivers as the dementia progressed. Always giving out compliments and caring about how the family and kids were doing, selfless till the end.
Sincerest thanks to Emmett, Bill, Maryanne, Zorina and Rob, numerous family, friends and neighbours for always being there for him over the years; Prince Rupert Regional Hospital and Home Care for all your care and attention; Staff at Safeway especially Safeway Pharmacy for your understanding and patience; Melanie and Staff at Northern Savings Credit Union for your concern and watching out for him; Diane and Staff at Frank's Studio Hair Design for you kindness and making him feel at ease; Cookaroux for all the wonderful meals he thoroughly enjoyed, especially the perogies they were his favourite.
A heartfelt thank you for his caregivers Mary, Brittnee, Joshua and Adele.
Predeceased by his Wife Ella, Mother Francis, Sisters sheila and Eileen. He is survived by his Daughters Isabel (Michael) and Mary (Ted); Grandchildren Joshua, Brittnee (Italo) and Kyle; Great Grandchildren Aidan and Emma.
Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Uncle you are one of the smartest, strongest and kind hearted men we know. We all love and miss you dearly. Always in our hearts with fond memories.
