September 2, 1942 - August 15, 2024

In loving memory ~

On August 15, 2024, Paola Torresan died at the age of 81. She is survived by her son Claudio (Deborah) of Kelowna, BC; daughter Diana (Brian) of Quesnel, BC; son Danny (Natalie) of Port Coquitlam, BC; and her grandchildren Quintin, Tristan, Michelle, and Joshua; as well as her sister Luigina and brother Giorgio. She has gone to join her husband, Ferruccio Torresan, and her son, Valter Torresan, who went on before her.

Paola Torresan was born in Ponzano, Italy on September 2, 1942, into a large family. She grew up in Italy and then immigrated to Canada at the young age of 19 to start her new life. She had her 20th birthday in Vancouver, BC two days after arriving. Paola married Ferruccio that same year, and they planted roots in Prince Rupert, BC, where they spent their days working hard and raising their four children.

Paola was a dedicated worker, a devoted mother; she took pride in everything she did. She was very easygoing and quick to laugh. Paola and Ferruccio formed some wonderful lifelong friendships with other Italians who had immigrated to Rupert. Paola would always say, "People must think I'm crazy to want to stay in Rupert, but I love it here, just love it." That tight-knit group of friends began to leave Prince Rupert, with many of them moving to Kelowna, BC.

In 2004, they followed suit and moved to Kelowna, where they continued those friendships. They quickly became active members in the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club and began fostering new friendships. Together, they had many great years in Kelowna until Ferruccio passed away. Paola remained in Kelowna, where she spent her time engaged in various hobbies including gardening, reading, and knitting. She also continued to be an active member of the Italian Club and took several opportunities to travel with friends and family. She was able to explore the two places in the world she had always dreamt of going to: The Pyramids of Egypt and Australia. Paola was an amazing and thoughtful person, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her but will remain forever in our hearts.
