Mar 15, 1922 - May 22, 2018
Mildred was born in Florida, Ohio, USA on March 15, 1922. She was the 3rd child out of eight children born to Reverend Theodore and Anna Luft. Mildred lived in Dashwood, Pembroke, St. Catharines and Kitchener, Ontario before she moved to Prince Rupert in 1990 to be closer to her daughter.

Mildred had jobs in retail in Ontario and worked in St. Paul's church office as secretary for a few years. She learned how to type and worked on the first computer in our office. She quilted with the ladies and enjoyed the E.L.W. Women's group and bible studies.

Mildred met and married Elmer Witt of Pembroke, Ontario when her father was Called there to St. John's Lutheran Church. They had four children - Patricia, Franklin, Terrance and Donald. They lived in Pembroke from 1942 to 1955 and moved to St. Catharines as Elmer had taken another job as an Aid Association for Lutherans Life Insurance salesman. Elmer passed away at 48 from a heart attack when Mildred was 42. She lived in Prince Rupert for 28 years and moved 5 times! She was a great cook, loved company and her little dog, Jasper. Her church was very important to her.

Mildred is predeceased by her husband Elmer, 3 brothers (Ted, Herbert, and Harold), 2 sisters (Helen and an infant), and granddaughters (Deborah & Allison).

She is survived by daughter Pat (John), sons Franklin (Irene), Terry (Sigrid), Donald (Carol), grandchildren Jon (Joanne), Ryan, Greg (Monica), Jeff (Karyn), Sherri (Jay).

The family wish to thank the Acropolis Manor nurses, care aids, and Dr. Piek for their care over the last 2.5 years. The disposition of Mildred's ashes will take place in September in St. Catharines, Ontario beside her husband's grave.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church memorial Fund will be appreciated.

Funeral to be held June 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
