April 13, 1941 - October 15, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mom, Gramma & Great Gramma. Marilyn Tingstad passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2022 at Kelowna General Hospital with her children by her side.
Marilyn was born on April 13, 1941 in Vancouver and was the only child of the late Bill & Edna Hutchinson.
Marilyn married the love of her life & best friend on October 8, 1960 in Cranbrook, BC. While Erv attended fixed wing flight school, they started their family with the birth of their son, Daryel in 1961 and their daughter, Cheryl in 1965. In the mid 60's they moved the family to Victoria so Erv could obtain his helicopter license. In the late 60's they moved to Prince Rupert. The family continued to grow with the birth of son, Marty in 1970. Marilyn's focus was always her children. She was a stay at home mom until the late 70's. She then returned to the workforce part time with a long standing position at Gordon & Anderson until its closing, then a long time at Toy Craft. Prince Rupert was their home for over 25 years. In later years they travelled state side in the winters and had many camping/hunting trips with family and friends. Marilyn made many lifelong friends in Prince Rupert that she stayed in contact with until her passing.
In 1994 they moved to the Okanagan and settled in West Kelowna. They downsized into the Monticello Condo complex, where they made more near & dear friends. They continued to travel state side and added annual trips to Prince Rupert. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Ervin on March 1, 2021 and had great support from family and friends.
Above all else, Marilyn loved her family. She is survived by her son, Daryel (Julie Tuton), her daughter, Cheryl and her son Marty (Rebecca Macpherson). She was loving Gramma to Kristy (Mark) Armstrong, Carli, Kyla, Jenna and Abby. She adored her great grandchildren, Halle & Drew.
Marilyn is also survived by sisters-in-law, Gladys (Bud) Wishart, Bernice Foth, Bev Tingstad, Lorraine Tingstad and many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to add an extra special "Thank You" to Dr. Locke, Dr. Penner and Dr. Bystrom for the care of Marilyn during this difficult time. We would also like to add her friends Sharon & Don Bell, Judy & Norma to the list. A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held at a later date.
