1951-2021 ~ Maria Assunta (Pomponio) Lorello... our Mama Mary, Nonna and Zia... embraced in love and faith, took her last breath at 12:45 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at home in Prince Rupert after a short and ever so valiant 3rd round battle with cancer. Mary was 69 years young.
Mary was born in San Biagio Saracinisco, Italy in the early fall of 1951, 3rd child to Pierino and Antonia Pomponio. The Pomponio family immigrated to Prince Rupert when Mary was 11, where she quickly made friends and enjoyed learning to speak english and teach others a little bit of Italian. Mary loved the ocean and the fresh air here in Prince Rupert.
Predeceased by her parents as well as her little sister Anna Tamburrini and sister-in-law Giselle Pomponio, She leaves behind her brothers Angelo (Antonetta) and Gaetano, her daughter Anna (Mario), son Frank (Theresa), granddaughter Téa, honorary (step) grandchildren Kaleb and Annika, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
Mary was fiercely loyal and loving to her family. She shared her love so freely through her cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. She fed and warmed our souls with delicious foods and great conversations and took great pride in her table settings and the spreads she provided. With a heart of gold, Mary befriended everyone she encountered. Everywhere she went she was well known and admired by so many. She will be remembered for her gift to gab. Treasure those conversations now and remember her beautiful smile and voice.
