July 9, 1937 - July 11, 2020
With sadness we announce the passing of Margret at Prince George University Hospital.
Margret was predeceased in August 2019 by her husband of 60 years, Ed, and her health deteriorated rapidly after this sudden, unexpected loss. She is survived by her children Kristopher and Natalie, and four beautiful grandchildren.
Margret was born in Battersea London, England, and spent her childhood years in New York City, Toronto and Winnipeg before moving to Vancouver in her early teens. Margret and Ed met in Vancouver through mutual friends in the Icelandic community and were married on March 28, 1959. Though she loved the cosmopolitan life, she and Ed raised their young children in the cannery town of Butedale, B.C. for 5 years before moving to Prince Rupert early in 1966. Margret was primarily a homemaker but she also worked with the Bank of Montreal, in the fish plant, and with her husband on the boat, Grey Owl, until her husband's retirement. Margret had incredible strength and determination and was intelligent both academically and inter-personally. She laughed and cried easily, endearing those close to her, and was not reluctant to give her opinion to those she felt needed to hear it. She loved her children and those they loved, and encouraged them to show respect, to endure hardship, and to choose their path in life with the goal to be happy.
Please respect the family's privacy at this difficult time. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your charity of choice.
