We said goodbye to our beloved Luis (Manuel) Eleuterio at 2:35am on Monday, April 15, 2019. Luis passed peacefully in his sleep at the young age of 87 years.
Luis will be greatly missed by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughters Teresa (Adrian), and Anna (Ken), sons Luis (Sandra), and Jason (Natsu), granddaughters Monica and Izabella, grandsons Christopher, Zachary and Paulo, great grandchildren Lyla and Axel, Luis' brother Joe, sister Teresa, and many extended family members and friends. Luis is now reunited with his parents Anna and Manuel, sister Maria, father in law Dennis and mother in-law Alice.
Luis was born and raised in Sao Miguel Acores Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1956, working first in Ocean Falls and then moving to Prince Rupert BC that same year. Luis met his loving, and only wife of 57 years, Elizabeth in Prince Rupert and married in 1962. They raised their four children, as Luis worked as a carpenter. He ran his own general contracting business for a few decades, retiring in his 70's. Luis was recognized as a Pioneer of Prince Rupert; in being one of the first Portuguese to settle in this community.
Luis will be remembered fondly, for his many stories of the adventures he shared with his wife Elizabeth, his energy and the wonderful dancing the couple were well known for. He enjoyed music, dancing, travel and gardening.
A Prayer Service will be held at the Annunciation Church, 635 5th Avenue West, Prince Rupert BC; May 4th, 2019 at 11 am.
