In Loving Memory ~

A wonderful man departed this Earth in Prince Rupert on Friday, February 9, 2024. Lloyd Arthur Quast was a loving husband and a supportive and caring father who was passionate about his whole family. He was born in Vegreville, AB July 28th, 1941.

The Quast family with four boys, Lloyd, Donnie, Bob and Bill, moved to Prince Rupert in 1951. He started at Conrad and graduated from Booth Memorial in 1959. The house on 11th Ave East where Lloyd was living when he passed was bought in 1954, so he was there, off and on - mostly on for 70 years. He was a staunch Rupertite and was proud to receive his 75/50 Club membership in 2016.

Lloyd first married Terese Veitch and sons David and Colin were born to them. After he and Terese separated, he entered the AA program and in 2023 he had been sober for 40 years, one day at a time. He reconnected with Dawn Eby, who had moved to Rupert in 1989, and they married in 1995.

Lloyd was a pipefitter in construction and retired as a maintenance supervisor at Skeena Cell Pulp Mill. His retirement gift to himself was a brand new 2001 PT Cruiser, a car that he cherished and cared for, right to the end. In fact, it just got body work done over Christmas and was in the shop getting a whole list of things done when he passed.

Retirement for him was "no commitments". He and Dawn travelled the world. Driving trips were also a favourite, especially across Canada in 2005. He swam daily at the pool, and most important besides his family were the guys in the coffee groups. These guys were the highlight of his days during his final months.

Lloyd leaves his loving wife, Dawn, his sons David and Colin and their mother Terese, his daughter Cathi Mae, brother Bill (Erin), many cousins, nephews, and nieces, and the fifteen precious great nieces and nephews, all of whom he was able to visit, except three on the last road trip taken over Christmas just past.

There will be a gathering at the Prince Rupert Moose Hall on Sunday, April 14 at 2 pm, so that all who knew Lloyd can come and share a story or two, either spoken or written. We would love it if you could send your stories of Lloyd, as we're creating a book to share with family and friends.
