The family of Lillian Sletten is saddened to announce that God sent His angels to take her to her Eternal Home on December 18th, 2022, at the age of 901/2 years.
Lillian was the youngest daughter of Johan and Hulda Rydde and one of nine children. Mom was born in Loon Lake Saskatchewan shortly after her parents and most of her siblings immigrated from Norway. She was born in the 'dirty thirties' and life on the farm was lots of hard work and everyone had their share of chores.
Lillian was very talented in sewing, embroidery, crocheting, knitting and hardanger. As a child, I had dresses made from white flour bags that were sewn and embroidered beautifully. All of her children and grandchildren wore beautiful hand knit Norwegian Sweaters and hats. Mom took great pride in a clean house and loved baking traditional Norwegian delicacies.
Lillian married a farm neighbour Arnold Sletten in 1954. Daughter Valerie arrived in 1955 and son Darrell in 1957. MOM was widowed in Sept 1984 when Dad died of a heart attack, she was only 52 years old.
Mom had an active role in raising three of her grandchildren, still having time to be a grandma to three others. New Year's Eve was always a special party with her and her grandkids.
MOM lived in her own home being strongly independent until a bad fall. She spent several months in the hospital after she had Covid, a broken hip and a small stroke. In the middle of March, she was transferred to the Acropolis Manor where she resided until her passing.
A Special 'Thank You' to the wonderful staff at the Manor. Mom was treated with loving care during her short stay with them.
Lillian will be missed by her family. Valerie (Joe) Darrell, Grandchildren Nathan (Jordan) Tyler (Nikki) Jared (Ru) D.A. (Marisa) Joshua (Sarah) Chelsea (Charlie) great-grandchildren - Nathan, Kienan, Ryen, Dax, Ella, Avery, Lillian, Palmer, and Logan.
