March 21, 1932 - June 25, 2022
Leona passed away on Saturday June 25th, 2022 in Vancouver, BC. She is survived by her 3 sons: Bradley, Scott and Kelly, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leona and her husband David A Lattimer lived all over BC, including many small communities where they made long lasting friendships.
Through her relationships with Indigenous artists throughout BC she was able help create the thriving Northwest Coast Indigenous art market we know today. Founder of Leona Lattimer Gallery in June of 1986, she ran her gallery until 2001 when she and her husband David retired. The hundreds of artists and thousands of customers Leona met and worked with were her true passion and is what helped form the lifelong friendships she had.
Leona will be missed greatly by her friends and family, but we know she is once again happy in the arms of her best friend and husband David.
A Celebration of Leona's life will be held at the Museum of Anthropology on Monday July 25, 2022, at 6pm. Museum of Anthropology UBC, 6393 NW Marine Drive, Vancouver, BC.
