April 23, 1942 - February 15, 2021
My mom was born in Porsgrunn, Norway on April 23 1942. She had an active childhood filled with gymnastics, bicycling and many friends. By chance she met my father and the love of her life (Carl Nielsen) at a new year's eve party in the late 1950's. By November 29th 1963 they were married in Skien, Norway to a small but enthusiastic group of loving family and friends.
Shortly after, my parents decided they wanted a change and literally took a dart to a globe and decided to move to Montreal, Canada. Shortly after that my brother Carl was born in 1966 followed by myself (Jan Nicoaly) in 1968.
Mom took an active role in volunteering at our grade school. She was a proud member of the school for many years beyond us attending and bid a tearful goodbye to Montreal in 1984. Next on her life long journey of travel and service to others was of course Prince Rupert.
Not long after moving to Prince Rupert her spirit of giving and helping others brought her to Acropolis Manor. For over 30 years mom tirelessly volunteered with Prince Rupert's seniors. She brought her enthusiasm, humour and a never ending smile every time she walked in the door.
Mom eventually moved into Acropolis about 3 years ago as she was diagnosed with dementia. With only the humour that mom could pull off, she joked that she was now needed there full time to help out. Very sadly mom passed quietly in the wee hours of February 15th of Covid 19 with my brother Carl lovingly holding her hand.
Mom will be missed by many in the community of course but especially by her loving husband Carl, her sons Carl and Jan, and her two grandchildren she was so very proud of Ingrid and Conrad Nielsen.
We love you and miss you terribly.
