At the P.R. hospital on a rainy windy night Sept. 23, we had to say goodbye to Ken who had struggled so long and hard.
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to beautiful P.R. in 1969 with the Dept. Of Highways survey crew.
He met Sandra who was working at Brad's Drive Inn, where he would stop by daily to get his cheeseburger and fries. They married in 1973 for 48 wonderful years They have a daughter, Nicole (Rocky ) and a son, Derek, grandsons, Rylen & Rowan.
He will be missed by his brother, Brian (Carroll), his mother-in-law, Bea, sister-in-laws, Belle & Mattie, Brother-in-laws, Reg & Jim, his wonderful nieces and nephews and his many friends. Predeceased by parents, Guy Ridgeway & Gladys & John Johnson.
Ken worked at B.C. Packers Rupert Cold storage 1976-1986, Skeena Cellulose No. 3 woodroom 1986-1998.
He also worked on the Centurion IV ferry from 1999-2003, and McElhanney surveying and with Sandy Kahl, LBS contracting, In 2008 he was maintenance man for Wayne Place and Kaien senior housing until 2013.
He loved to drive and took great care of his vehicles, whenever we drove back to Manitoba, he would go geese hunting, he loved to golf and fish and he helped coach minor hockey during the years that Derek played, he loved to travel to warmer places, loved to watch the Canucks and Bluejays with His Kokanee beer.
We would like the thank the wonderful nurses and staff of the P.R. hospital for their loving care and compassion, your support and patience and dedication are greatly appreciated and will Never be forgotten.
A special thanks to Dr. John Fawell for his unrelenting care and compassion and for never Giving up. Also thank you to Dr. Nel, Dr. Browne, Dr. Piek, Dr. Croft and Dr. Erasmus. Thank you to our family and friends for your support.
