Joyce was called to be with her Saviour and reunited with her Christian loved ones who have gone before her on 7th June at Acropolis Manor. While we mourn losing a loved one we also rejoice as we know she has been welcomed with open arms to her heavenly home.
Joyce was born, raised and lived her life in Prince Rupert- She worked in the office Of the pulp mill until she chose to be at home to raise her children, She later worked for many years at The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters, Gardening was one of her greatest enjoyments and she spent many hours in her yard over the years. She loved to crochet and read as well. Many nights would see her curled up on the lounge with her hobbies and her family around her.
Faith and Family were everything to Joyce. She was an active member of The Salvation Army for most of her life. She spent many years playing in the band as well as leading and teaching Sunday School. Her life was a testament to what she believed, She was someone who touched many people's lives through her love Of God and through her daily prayers for them.
Predeceased by her husband Mel, her parents, Raymond and Audrey (Joyce) Scherk of Prince Rupert, grandparents Daniel and Henriette (Turcotte) Scherk and John and Frances (Woodward) Joyce of Prince Rupert. Brother Leonard Scherk.
Joyce is survived by her sons Wayne (Sharon) of Regina, SK and Ian of Prince Rupert Daughter Shelley Woods of Busselton, Australia. Grandson James McDonough of Regina, SK and granddaughters Jennifer (Nathan) Anderson of Regina, SK, Deborah McDonough of Nanaimo and Sarah McDonough of Abbotsford. Great grandsons Christian and Keaton Anderson of Regina, SK, Brother Andrew Scherk, Sisters Sharon Nyman (Daniel) Of Calgary, Elly Szabo (Andy) of Prince George.
A private family celebration & remembrance of her life will take place at a later date.
