November 19, 1933 - September 11, 2021
It is with deep regret and sadness that the Paul family announces the sudden passing of Joyce at the age of 87 after a brief illness at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital on September 11, 2021.
Joyce will be greatly missed by her loving husband Gid and her beloved four children, Laurie (Iain), Jim (Jenny), Cindy (Krist), Susan (Kevin), her grandchildren Margo, Andrew, Liam, Jayton, David, Matthew, Darren and her great granddaughter Rory.
She will also be missed by her sisters-in-law Catherine Ewasiuk and Roberta Giordano, her brother-in-law Charles Paul and her many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on November 19, 1933. She moved to Prince Rupert during the war at the age of 12 where her brothers were serving in the navy. She met the love of her life John (Gid) in 1950 and they soon became inseparable. They were married in 1953 and just recently celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary.
Joyce was a devoted mother and surrogate mother/grandmother to many of the neighbourhood children. She enjoyed many sports and was a very active member in the Prince Rupert Tennis and Curling Clubs. Joyce so enjoyed her many pets over the years and particularly her beloved dogs.
Most recently she took on the task of helping to feed feral cats in Rupert. Joyce made sure they never went hungry.
Joyce put her family first and was very supportive of them in their many aspirations.
She so enjoyed having family and friends at her home. You could always go to Grannie's for a cup of tea, a good meal and sound advice. She was a very generous and compassionate woman who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Joyce will always be remembered for her unconditional love for us all.
Joyce's family would like to thank the PRRH nursing staff and Dr. John Croft for their compassion and support. A Celebration of Joyce's Life was held at the Lutheran Church on September 14th. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for all the kind thoughts, words and actions from friends near and far. Joyce would have been so touched by your generosity.
If desired, donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the PURS Foundation, 596 Cassiar Avenue, Prince Rupert, V8J 3Z5.
