It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Tyler Morven. Born in Prince Rupert, B.C., Canada.
He was survived by: Wife, Sarah Bright, Mother, Carol Roberts (Stepfather, Randy Fiddler), Father, Curtis Morven. Siblings: Aiden, Aiyana and Noah Murphy-Morven and Stepsister, Paige Olson.
Grandparents, Holly Roberts (Glen Ritchie), Grandfather, Nelson Morven Sr. ,numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom love him dearly.
Predeceased by, Grandmother, Roberta Morven (nee Ryan), and Grandfather, Miles Roberts.
Joshua was never idle and enjoyed working, gaming and took interest in cars. His dream job was to be a rally race car driver. His first jobs were working for Tim Hortons, Prince Rupert Recycling Depot and at the same time, United Ramp at YPR. He attended college and successfully graduated with certifications in heavy duty mechanics and heavy duty operator. He got his heavy-duty operator ticket while in the frigid cold air of - 30° C, in Prince George while wearing an oxygen D-tank on his back because of his compromised lungs.
His final vocation, a Class 1 commercial truck driver, pre-diagnosis he worked in Vancouver for Nickel Bros., post, locally for Gatleedmn Logistics, and Columbia Containers in Vancouver both companies and their kind employees were very accommodating and helped him with any obstacles, consequently, enabled him to work around his illness.
He moved home and back to Vancouver numerous times due to his illness. Regardless of what life threw at him he was able to overcome all adversity and did not let scleroderma stop him from living his best life.
Although shortened, Joshua's life was very purposeful and impactful. Most people his age are young and robust, in contrast, from 2019- 2024 he was forced to endure a long and hard fought battle with the rare autoimmune disease, systematic scleroderma, which eventually lead to not one but two double lung transplants and a 297 - day Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) stay.
He left beautiful remnants on the hearts of all that had the pleasure of meeting him, including the teams of medical professionals during his lengthy stay at VGH.
He will always be remembered as a hardworking, kind, humble, and courageous young man.
Joshua's zest for life was evident in his valiant efforts to stay alive in a world that he loved and respected very much. He expressed many times that he was not ready to go to heaven. Sadly, days before his passing, his Lung Transplant Surgeon, Dr. Yee, told Joshua and his parents that God had other plans for Joshua.
Rest in peace, your job here is done. Joshua's legacy will live on forever; he is gone but will never be forgotten.
The family thanks Joshua's teams of medical professionals and all that partook in his very eventful medical journey.
Finally, it really does take a village. How do we thank so many people on a grand scale? A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes out to all those that continue to show us love, kindness and compassion while we walk the toughest walk of our lives.
A memorial service was already held on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
