March 24, 1965 - January 4, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Johnny Adair Rowbotham. He was born in Prince Rupert on March 24, 1965, and died on January 4, 2023, in Campbell River.
He grew up in Rupert, spending happy times at the cabin at Prudhomme Lake and as Gumpy's sidekick, riding shotgun in the lime green pickup truck.
Like many of his generation, he put in his time as a deckhand, then tried his hand at driving a truck, crisscrossing Canada with his trusted chocolate lab, Teela, by his side. He knew much about many things and was delighted in sharing his knowledge.
Johnny lived for 14 years with multiple myeloma, and it took the wind from his sails. His struggle with pain took hold of him, and like many in similar situations, addiction became a daily conflict. In true Rowbotham form, he was stubborn, resilient and tenacious, but now he's free.
His partner, Nancy, passed away in 2018, and Johnny felt her loss terribly. We find comfort in knowing they are together. Johnny is survived by family and friends who love him and will keep his memory alive.
