In loving memory~
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Joe Urbanczyk, a devoted and loving father and brother.
Joe is survived by and is lovingly remembered by his children - Suzanne Urbanczyk (Martin Courchaine) and Jeanette Brown (Rick Smoley), his grandchildren - Sean Brown and Chris Brown - his great-grandchildren - Mia and Rylee Brown, Donna Leeson and family, and his two sisters, Maria Lacaille and Aline Majdan.
Joe was born in Charleroi, Belgium and emigrated to Canada with his good friend in the 1950s. He worked on ships in the Great Lakes and moved to Vancouver once winter hit, so he could work on ships year-round. He worked for Blackball Ferries until they became a provincial entity - the B.C. Ferries. He was the chief Bartender on the Queen of the North - and is also well-loved by his BC Ferry family - A watch. He retired at age 65, and was fêted by co-workers in Nanaimo, BC who came from near and far.
