In loving memory ~
With sadness, we announce the passing of Joanne (Butler) Pierce. Surrounded by her family, Joanne ended a courageous battle with cancer on December 4th, 2022.
Joanne was born in North York, Ontario to Audrey and Robert Butler. She grew up in Lake Egmont, Nova Scotia with her parents and five siblings, Dave, Michael, Cheryl, Valerie, and Heather, before moving to Prince Rupert in 1981. Joanne met her husband Norm Pierce in 1983
and married him two years later at which point she became a stepmom to Joanne and Bobby.
Joanne worked at Rupert Esso and Farwest Bus Lines before starting her 32-year career at B.C. Ferries. During her time at B.C. Ferries, Joanne was involved in two very notable events; travelling to Greece to pick up the Northern Adventure and the sinking of the Queen of the North. Joanne was an extremely social and caring individual who made friends everywhere she went. Her family and friends were a very important part of her life. Joanne will be missed by her husband, Norm, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her father, siblings, and her many friends.
A service will be held at the Fellowship Baptist Church on Saturday, December 17th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with a small reception to follow. For those who are unable to attend in person, her service can be viewed on https://www.prfellowship.ca/live and click "Live on YouTube".
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the B.C. Cancer Society.
