March 7, 1934 - August 7, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we are having to announce the passing of Jim on August 7th in Terrace, BC. He was predeceased by his wife Sally Whyte, his daughter Claire Whyte (MacLaren), and son James Whyte.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son Paul Whyte of Prince Rupert, BC., and his 4 grandchildren Meagan (Darren), Emily, Michael, and Katie, as well as one great-grandchild Blake.
James was born in Sydney, Australia where he worked as a lifeguard for many years before joining the Military. At this time, he was also obtaining his teaching degree, and enjoyed his teaching career for 37 years.
In the 1970's he moved his family to Canada, and eventually to Prince Rupert, where he taught at Booth Memorial School until he retired.
James must have had gypsy in his blood, because he enjoyed traveling the world, and always had a story to tell about his adventures.
A small memorial is planned at the Prince Rupert cemetery on Monday, August 17th to lay Jim to rest.
