August 2, 1931 - March 7, 2019
It is with great sadness the family of Helen Grace Wright announces her peaceful passing on March 7, 2019 at the age of 87 with family and friends at her side. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years Thurlow (Pop), her children Teresa, Janice, Richard (Marlene) Jonathan (Rhonda), her loving brothers Victor (Wendy) and Roy (Iris) Prystay and sisters-in-law Pat Prystay and Lois Wright. Helen dearly loved her seven grandchildren: Natalie Wright, Alexa & Claire Monahan, Erin Stromdhal (Jeff), Katie Wright (Axel Skalsvik), Jesse Wright (Amy) and Hayley McCuistion (Andy), four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her son Timothy, her parents Teodor and Anna Prystay and her brothers Eugene (Stella) and Ted Prystay.

Helen was born in Prince Rupert, August 2, 1931 spending her early years on the family farm in Terrace, moving to Prince Rupert in her early teens where she eventually met and married Pop on November 5, 1949. They raised their five children in Prince Rupert, New Westminster, Germany and Ontario before moving back to Prince Rupert in 1965, completing the circle.

Helen is fondly remembered for her long and fulfilling career in Prince Rupert's medical community including the Green Clinic, Worker's Compensation, Dr. W.Redman, and ending her career with her dream job, as coordinator for visiting specialists at Prince Rupert General Hospital.

In her spare time, Helen knit mountains of sweater sets, spending countless hours with the PRGH Auxiliary and walked miles in support of the Relay for Life, one of many of her volunteer contributions.

Helen was a gifted athlete who loved bowling and excelled as a golfer - winning many competitions.

Helen was a lifelong learner, an avid reader and strove to achieve her highest potential.

Her indomitable and feisty spirit persisted in the face of many struggles, notably the deaths of her son Timothy and her beloved mother and her many years of living with Alzheimer's. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at Acropolis Manor for their care, support and compassion.

A Mass will be celebrated in memory of Helen at The Church of the Annunciation (635 5th Avenue West) on Saturday, March 30th at 11 am officiated by Father Terry Brock.

A reception will be held at the Prince Rupert Golf Club immediately following Mass. All who knew Helen as friends or acquaintances are welcome to attend to share memories, laughter and stories.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Prince Rupert Hospital Auxiliary or Hospice House.
