It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle and Grandfather. George Rempel passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2020 at Acropolis Manor Prince Rupert, BC Canada at the age of 79. He was born August 28, 1940 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan to John and Helena Rempel (nee Dyck) both predeceased. He was raised to work hard on the family farm, and moved to Prince Rupert, BC in 1966 and had worked at the Cowbay Sawmill, Skeena Cellulose pulp mill, and was a Longshorman and retired as a mechanic at BC Packers Ltd.
Predeceased by the mother of his three daughters, Mavis Williams. Former husband of Chuen Phikunyaem.
Loving father of daughters Veronica (Amos) Setso, Prince Rupert BC, Debbie (Darren) Smith, Nanaimo BC, Tracy Rempel, Prince Rupert BC, and step-daughter Wichuta (Timsac) Nuanta. Proud Grandfather of Douglas, Joshua, Caitlin, Brenna, Gyles, Sasha, Drake, Ryah and Step-grandchildren Whitney and Syndey. Great grandchildren Devin, Cassidy and Karlee.
Brother of Tena Hoeve, Anne Wiebe, David Rempel, John Rempel and Sarah Rempel and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his Siblings Lena Fast, Peter Rempel, and Gertie Bergen.
George will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving Father, Brother, Uncle and Grandfather, for his love of hockey and hunting. He always had a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. His story telling of growing up on the farm were heard by many.
Private family services will be held due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Acropolis Manor in Prince Rupert. We would also love to express our appreciation and gratitude to the Acropolis and hospital staff for taking such good care of our Dad over the years.
