Rabel - Garry, 73, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2018 in Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, with family by his side. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Garry was the son of the late William and Edna Rabel and one of eight siblings. Garry fondly recounted his industrious and adventurous childhood.
On August 17, 1968 Garry married Dianne Toews and together they raised three children. In 1983, Garry and his family moved to Prince Rupert and Garry enjoyed an active life in the community - church, civic government, youth sports and Rotary. Garry loved his community and was a dedicated city councilor from 1993 to 1996.
Garry will be remembered for being gentle, kind, friendly, helpful, and selfless. Garry loved jokes. Above all, Garry found the most joy in, and was proudest of, his grandchildren.
He is survived by his cherished wife of almost fifty years Dianne; children Shannon (Dustin), Lindsay (Tony) and Matthew (Amy); treasured grandchildren Ellen (Kyle), Madeleine, Laura, JazLynn, Benjamin, Natalie, Luke, Tanis and great grandchild Cecily; siblings Marjorie, Wilma (Don), Lynda (Gerry), Arvid (Esther), Lyle (Grayce), Norman (Judy), sister- in-law Evangeline; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Garry is predeceased by his parents; brother Dennis; and nephews Murray, David, Rodney, and Benjamin. Garry's hope is in heaven - Psalm 73:23-25.
