Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep. Born in Prince Rupert to Sydney Alexander and Elvina Emma Emily Dickens. Predeceased by brother Sydney Alexander and son Larry Besse.

Lovingly missed by her daughters Marilyn (Jim), Leona (Mike). Grandsons Aaron (Silvana) and Andrew. Granddaughter Crystal and Great-granddaughters Jordana and Katelyn.

Evelyn's first job in Prince Rupert was working as a telephone operator. Evelyn was better known for working at the Co-Op Fish Cannery for over 30 years. She worked as a fish filleter then ran the box room. She volunteered at Conrad School and the Moose Lodge. She first learned how to drive with a dump truck, a story I enjoyed. Mom was a kind person and always put others first. She was an awesome baker and yes we were spoiled when she would ship up boxes and boxes of homemade goodies, each piece individually wrapped.

She used to walk to town a lot and she never lost her independence once being in a wheel chair. She liked to "Get to town" as much as she could. Thank goodness for the Handy Dart and wheel chair taxi who gave her the means to get there. She enjoyed watching the deer roaming around and we would spend hours sitting in the car at Rushbrooke Floats watching the seals, eagles, seagulls and fishing boats coming and going.

Thank you to Dr. Kloppers, Dr.Browne, Dr. Nel, Dr. Pienaar and many other Drs who have been in her life. Thank you for keeping the Energizer Bunny/Ninja Nana going. She was amazing and one tough lady.

Thank you to the nurses and physio staff at the PRRH for the care you gave mom.

Thank you Bailey, Alana, Maggie at the ALU and all the Home Support staff. Mom enjoyed the many conversations with you all. Your kindness was very appreciated.

A very special thank you to the Hospice Society Volunteers who were so caring to mom, my sister and I. Visiting with mom and staying with her final hours brought us peace knowing she wasn't alone.

And lastly to Gale Smith, my friend and mom's "adopted daughter", thank you for everything.

I'm going to greatly miss my seal watching buddy. Rest in peace Mom, Nana, Great-Nana & Nama. We love you. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Prince Rupert Hospice Society.
