It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom and "Grandma "Ethel Christena (Acker) DesChamp who passed away on January 29, 2025 at Acropolis Manor.
Ethel was born on March 06, 1943, in Shelburne, Nova Scotia to the late Spencer & Christena Acker. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond Des Champ and siblings Clifford and Gordon. Ethel is survived by her sons Brian (Sheri), Tim (Victoria), Trevor (Courtney), and Evan (Raeanne); by her grandchildren: Adrianna, Trevor, Arlen, and Marcus; and step-grandchildren, Grace, Hannah, Mason and Mac. Ethel is survived by her siblings Spencer (Linda), Brian (Linda), Wayne, Debra and Barbara. Ethel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, by brother-in-laws David, Kenny (Dorothy), Wesley (Donna), sister-in-law Doreen and her lifelong friend Juanita Nickerson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Acropolis Manor for their special care of Mom over the last few years.
There will be a memorial service at the First United Church in Prince Rupert on February 23, 2025 at 3pm, followed by light snacks downstairs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ethel Des Champ to the Recreation Department of Acropolis Manor, the BC Children's Hospital, or the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax, NS.
