August 21, 1953 – March 23, 2020
It is with very heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our dearest brother, father, uncle, grandfather, husband and friend Ernst Hugenschmidt.
Ernst was predeceased by his mother Mary (2014) and his father Walter (2017).
Ernst is survived by his wife Ulla, daughter Patricia (Dennis), son Darryl, stepson Brian and grandchildren Kieran and Makayla Mason. Also left behind are his brothers Karl (Julyn), Alex, Bob (Vicky) and Wally (Donny), sister Libby, and nieces and nephews.
Ernst was a kind, gentle soul who enjoyed spending time with family and playing music whenever the time desired. Ernst was a longtime welder in our local mill for over 30 years before he retired at the ripe old age of 55.
Many people of all ages enjoyed Ernie’s music. He was well- liked at the farmers’ market, Extended Care Unit, Willingdon Creek and numerous other places for playing his accordion. Many of the residents of these homes seemed to perk up when Ernie played his music and would even sing along. Children also loved dancing to Ernie’s songs.
Ernie will be missed for his loving smile and kind heart. Until such a time when the angels reunite us, take care of our father.
A service will be scheduled at a later date.
How could we ever be so lucky To have a special Dad like you Who cared for us and loved us And accepted us too.
Days always seemed brighter When I would hear you on the phone Just calling to say hello
With your voice in such a loving tone. You will be missed by many Who all loved you so dearly
Rest in peace, our father
For now you can see clearly.
