Eleni Passed away peacefully on Monday June 7th at the age of 89 after a long hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Eleni was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt with a love for life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends in Canada and Greece.
Born in Piraeus Greece, Eleni immigrated to Canada in 1959 marrying her best friend and soulmate Nickolas Pavlikis. Married for 62 years they built a wonderful life in Prince Rupert with good friends and family while raising their children and grandchildren.
After 46 years in Prince Rupert Nick and Eleni embarked on a new adventure moving to North Vancouver in 2006. They enjoyed travelling, entertaining friends from Prince Rupert, welcoming more grandchildren and family celebrations.
Eleni was the heart and soul of the family. She was inspiring, generous, kind, compassionate and always cared about the well being of others. She was our biggest cheerleader, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren her pride and joy.
Eleni especially enjoyed cooking traditional Greek food for family and friends passing down her recipes to master and enjoy. Mostly, Eleni was a devoted wife and best friend to Nick right to the end.
Eleni is predeceased by her parents Rania and Dimitri Vrettos and her brother George (Rita) and Alexos.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Nick, sister Elpida and brother Vaggelis (Soula), children Elizabeth Hood (Howard), Rania Harney (Jeffrey), Andrew Pavlikis (Shahr), grandchildren Niko Brain (Chelsey), Lee Brain (Hailey), Jay and Michael Hood, Paul and Nicole Harney, Nickolas and Lianna Pavlikis, great-grandchildren Henley and Kingston Brain, and Olivia Brain, nieces Angela Grodecki (Robert), Rania Vrettou (Stomatis) Demetra Vrettou (Vasilis), nephews Dimitri Vrettos and Manos Vrettos (Luba), great nieces Mary, Margarita & Malena Vrettou, and great nephews Brock Grodecki, George Vrettos and Vasilis.
Eleni has left a huge hole in our hearts but her spirit remains in us forever. Rest in peace Mom.
