Mom passed peacefully five short months after dad with her family by her side.
She was completely herself all her life, doing things the way she wanted. Under that quiet, calm exterior, was a feisty, stubborn, funny, generous, and an independent woman. She was truly an original. We will always remember the love, the food, and the beautiful chaos that were Sunday dinners at Nonna's.
It was Mom's strength and resolve that shepherded four children across the ocean by ship and then by rail to join Dad in a new adventure, in a new land, to a place called Prince Rupert in 1969.
Predeceased by her infant son Francesco, her husband of 70 years Giovanni, her parents Giuseppina and Salvatore, her parents in law Emilia and Antonio, her brothers, Eugenio, Beniamino, Pasquale, and sisters Antonietta Furano, and Ida Russo.
Survived by her children Antonio (Maria), Maurino (Shari), Giuseppe (Carol), Emilia (Kevin) McConville, Susan Lamb Ruperto, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Maria Russo, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be held on June 18 at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, with interment to follow at the Royal Oak Mausoleum, Victoria BC
